Kitt Birkler Sørensen
- primary health care nurse

The primary health care nurse is a guest in the client’s home and the tasks vary a lot. It can be everything from insulin injections, changing of dressings, putting drops in the eyes after surgery, handling of medicine dosages to care for critically ill and dying patients in their own home.

It is also my job to evaluate if the patient needs practical help concerning personal care or cleaning or if it is necessary to make some changes in the home of  walking-impaired patients to prevent accidents.

Together with the client I try to find solutions to problems of a physical, psychological or social nature.

I am very pleased with my job as a primary health care nurse also because you establish a very good contact with the clients when you come in their home throughout a long period of time.

The work is very independent and experience from various hospital departments is an advantage.

Primary health care nurses work closely together with the client’s general practitioner, specialists, hospitals, social and health assistants and social and health service helpers who come in the client’s home.
